Scope and quotes

Every project is quoted against a defined scope, in writing, before work begins. The quote is fixed for that scope. If you want something outside it, we agree the additional work and cost first — you will not receive an invoice for something you did not approve.

If, during the work, I discover the scope was based on a wrong assumption, I tell you immediately with options rather than continuing and billing more at the end.

Payment

Projects normally run 50% on acceptance and 50% on delivery. Larger engagements may be split into milestones. Retainers are billed in advance for the chosen cycle.

Invoices are due within 14 days unless agreed otherwise. Work may pause on overdue invoices, and I will always warn you before that happens rather than going quiet.

Your responsibilities

Projects move at the speed of the slower party. To keep things on schedule I need timely access, timely content, and timely feedback.

• Provide the access needed for the agreed work, or a route to obtain it
• Supply content, assets and decisions within reasonable time
• Nominate one person who can approve work on your side
• Have a working backup of anything you cannot afford to lose
• Hold the licences for any commercial software or assets used in the project

Timelines

Timelines given in a quote assume prompt responses and no scope change. I will tell you as soon as I know if something is going to slip, and why.

Delays caused by waiting on access, content or approval extend the timeline by at least the waiting period. That is not a penalty — it is arithmetic.

Revisions and approval

Fixed-scope work includes the revision rounds stated in the quote — typically two on design. Revisions mean refining what was agreed, not changing direction; a change of direction is new scope and is quoted as such.

Work is deemed accepted if you have not raised issues within 14 days of delivery.

Intellectual property

On full payment, you own the custom code and design produced for your project outright. Source is delivered unobfuscated and you are free to modify it, extend it, or hand it to another developer.

Third-party components (open-source libraries, commercial plugins, stock assets) remain under their own licences. Pre-existing tools and generic techniques I bring to the project remain mine, and you get an unlimited licence to use them within your project.

I may reference the project in my portfolio unless you ask me not to. If confidentiality matters, say so and I will keep it off the site.

Post-delivery support

Projects include two weeks of support after delivery for anything related to the delivered work — genuine defects are fixed at no charge. New features, changes of mind and unrelated problems are quoted separately.

Beyond that window, ongoing support is available through a retainer or on a per-job basis.

Confidentiality

I treat your business information, code and customer data as confidential and do not share it. I am happy to sign your NDA, or to provide a straightforward mutual one.

Liability

I take care with production systems — staging first, backups verified, changes reversible where possible. Nonetheless, my total liability for any project is limited to the fees you paid for that project.

I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profit or lost data, for issues arising from third-party software or hosting outside my control, or for problems caused by changes made by others after delivery.

This limitation does not attempt to exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Cancellation

Either of us can end a project in writing. You pay for work completed and in progress up to that point; anything paid beyond that is refunded. Retainers can be cancelled at any time and remain active until the end of the paid cycle.

Work I will decline

I will not take on work that is illegal, that is designed to deceive people, that involves spam or unauthorised access to systems you do not control, or that I do not believe I can do well.

If I decline, I will say so plainly and, where I can, point you at someone better suited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, with disputes subject to the courts of Islamabad Capital Territory, unless a signed agreement for your project says otherwise. In practice, I would much rather resolve a disagreement by talking about it.
