What a good WordPress site looks like

A good WordPress site loads in under two seconds on a phone, lets you edit your own content without fear, and is built from markup a search engine can read cleanly. That is not a high bar, and most WordPress sites miss it.

The usual reason is the shortcut: a themeforest theme with a demo import, a page builder, and a dozen plugins to fill the gaps. It looks acceptable on launch day and gets slower and more fragile every month after.

I build a theme for your site specifically. It contains what you need and nothing else, which is why it is fast, and it uses native WordPress editing so you can maintain it yourself.

What goes into the build

Your WordPress website.

Custom design

A layout designed for your business and approved before development, not a demo import with your logo dropped in.

Purpose-built theme

Clean, lightweight theme code containing only what your site actually uses.

Real editability

Native blocks and custom fields so you edit text, images and sections without breaking anything.

Mobile-first

Designed for phones first, because that is where most of your visitors are, then scaled up.

SEO foundation

Clean heading structure, schema markup, sitemaps, fast pages and a content architecture that can rank.

Forms & integrations

Lead forms, WhatsApp, analytics, newsletter and CRM wired in and tested.

The detail that matters

How I approach it.

01

Speed is a design decision, not a plugin

You cannot cache your way out of a heavy theme. Performance comes from shipping less — fewer scripts, fewer fonts, right-sized images in modern formats, and CSS that is actually used. Get that right and the caching plugin becomes a small final improvement rather than a desperate rescue.

02

Design the content model, not just the pages

Most WordPress frustration comes from content that does not fit the design — a testimonial with no photo, a service with a longer name than the layout allowed. Designing the structure alongside the visuals means real content works, including the awkward cases.

03

Ranking starts with architecture

SEO plugins do not create rankings; structure and content do. Which pages exist, how they link, what each one is genuinely about, and whether the site is fast enough to keep visitors. That gets decided during the build, not bolted on after.

How we work together

The process.

1

Listen

A 30-minute call to understand the problem behind the brief. The fix is often not what you first ask for.

2

Quote

A real number tied to a real scope — never a copy-paste price list. Sent within 24 hours.

3

Build

I work in staging, in your repo, with commits you can audit. I send a daily update so you are never wondering.

4

Deliver

Smoke test together, document, deploy. Then I stick around to catch the edge cases.

Questions, answered.

Can I edit the site myself afterwards?

Yes, and it is a design goal rather than an afterthought. You get native block editing with custom fields for structured content, plus a short walkthrough of how your specific site works.

How long does a WordPress site take?

A focused business site is typically 2–4 weeks including design approval. Larger sites with many templates or custom functionality run longer, and you get a real timeline with the quote.

Do you redesign existing sites?

Frequently. Redesigns need care with URLs and redirects so you do not lose existing search rankings, which is part of the work rather than an optional extra.

Will it work on mobile?

It is designed for mobile first and tested on real devices, not just a resized desktop browser. Most sites I build get the majority of their traffic on phones.

Need this built?.

Tell me what you need. I send a real quote based on your specific project — never a fixed price for a problem I have not heard.
