Suriname Online Marketplace

The challenge.

Suriname is a small, Dutch-speaking, mobile-first market that global marketplaces do not serve properly. Buyers and sellers there were working through social media groups, with no search, no categories and no record of anything.

What I did.

   Built the entire interface in Dutch rather than translating an English product, because the working language of the market is not a localisation afterthought.

   Chose a single-page application so browsing listings feels immediate on a phone, with navigation that does not re-fetch the world on every tap.

   Kept the list-and-sell flow deliberately short — the barrier in a small market is the number of steps between deciding to sell and being listed.

   Designed mobile-first for constrained bandwidth, keeping the payload small enough to load reliably on local mobile connections.
